Key Responsibilities:Packaging Strategy Development: Design and implement packaging strategies that align with company goals, product requirements, and market demands.Packaging Optimization: Evaluate existing packaging processes and materials to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and sustainability.Material Selection: Research and recommend appropriate packaging materials based on product type, shipping requirements, and environmental impact.Sustainability Initiatives: Lead efforts to reduce packaging waste and improve the environmental footprint by introducing sustainable packaging solutions, such as recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable materials.Cost Analysis: Conduct cost-benefit analyses of different packaging solutions, ensuring that packaging choices are both cost-effective and aligned with business objectives.Quality Assurance: Work with production teams to ensure packaging meets quality standards and provides adequate protection for products during storage and transit.Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and logistics teams to ensure packaging is optimized for supply chain efficiency.Compliance and Regulatory Standards: Ensure all packaging designs and processes comply with relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards (e.g., FDA, EPA, ISO).Testing & Prototyping: Oversee or conduct testing of new packaging solutions to ensure they meet performance standards, durability, and safety requirements.Training and Support: Provide guidance and training to internal teams (e.g., design, production, and logistics) on new packaging systems and best practices.Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and present reports on packaging performance, cost analysis, and recommendations to senior management.Requirements:Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, Materials Science, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).Proven experience as a Packaging Consultant, Packaging Engineer, or in a similar packaging-related role (typically 5+ years).Strong knowledge of packaging materials, design principles, and production processes.Expertise in sustainable packaging solutions and green packaging technologies.Proficiency in packaging design software (e.g., ArtiosCAD, PackSoft, or SolidWorks).Excellent understanding of regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., FDA, EPA, ISO standards).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.Project management experience, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.Ability to work cross-functionally with teams across departments, including design, manufacturing, and logistics.Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers to source materials and manage packaging production.Preferred Qualifications:Certification in packaging (e.g., Certified Packaging Professional, CPP).Knowledge of logistics and supply chain management, including the impact of packaging on shipping and warehousing costs.Familiarity with automated packaging systems and technologies.Experience with international packaging requirements and global supply chains.Working Conditions:Full-time position, with some travel required for supplier meetings, site visits, or product testing.Potential to work remotely or in-office based on company policy.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
