Job Description:ROLE SUMMARYHighly skilled and experienced MEP Project engineer will be responsible for the planning, execution, monitoring, and ensuring timely and successful delivery of MEP related fitout projects (HVAC, electrical, fire- fighting and plumbing) from inception to completion across HC business. To assist Senior MEP Manager reporting the progress of projects. The role involves coordination with internal departments, consultants, malls and contractors to ensure technical and quality standards, timelines, budgets, and safety requirements are met.Responsibilities:ROLE PROFILE / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reporting to MEP Manager, supervise project's MEP coordination and execution from site survey, coordinated brand concept design through construction and handover to facilities.
  • Review MEP plans, drawings, and blueprints to identify potential issues or discrepancies.
  • Coordinate/ liase with mall team/LL to get approvals for MEP fitout process and execution, keeping the design standards of Home centre intact.
  • Liase with contractor to prepare material submittals to mall team/ LL.
  • Support the MEP design team/ QS team with technical inputs, unit specifications and design information required for MEP design intent drawings, capex inputs and tender preparation by identifying cost saving opportunities.
  • Review and manage technical documentation including shop drawings, method statements, RFIs, response to RFI's and variation requests under Senior MEP Manager supervision.
  • Coordinate with designers and contractors to ensure MEP construction activities are in line with approved drawings, specifications, and project schedule.
  • Verify materials delivered and installed against approved material submittals and ensure proper documentation.
  • Monitor MEP works progress against weekly targets and highlights deviations from the approved program, advising the Sr MEP Manager of potential delays and corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and quality of works, ensuring compliance with design and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor project aspects including time, quality, safety, and sustainability, while eliminating delays.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of project correspondence, approvals, project status update and progress reports.
  • Coordinate, attend and document progress and regular coordination meetings with concept team and all stakeholders to understand their specific requirements and facilitate implementation on-site.
  • Support testing & commissioning activities and participate in snagging, de-snagging, and handover processes.
  • Support quantity and invoice verification and certification of completed works.
  • Verify and confirm contractor work completion for invoicing and payment processing.
  • Coordinate with QS for the release of payments to contractors, consultants and vendors, ensuring technical verification of claims and work completion.
  • Document inspection findings, prepare detailed reports, and maintain accurate records of inspections and project documentation.
  • Review engineering deliverables and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Assist in developing strategies for successful project delivery, focusing on design, construction, and maintenance.
  • Identification and evaluation of new products / solutions, vendors and material supporting sustainability initiatives.
  • Directs all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
  • Promotes job site safety, encourages safe work practices and rectifies job site hazards immediately.
Qualifications:REQUIREMENTSQualifications: Diploma/ bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering; Project Management Certification preferred.
  • Experience: Graduate with 5-7 years of extensive MEP coordination and site experience, preferably on the consultant/client / facility or maintenance side. Proven experience on construction and fitout sites (commercial buildings, big box retail stores, utility projects or commercial buildings and fitout) coordinating with consultants, main contractors, and cross-functional internal teams including finance. Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks/ projects and stakeholders in a demanding environment.
  • Project Skills: Strong understanding of MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, firefighting, plumbing). Building systems and standards, Technical Input, Planning, Organizing, Progress Monitoring, Site execution and documentation, Design Coordination, reporting efficiently and delivery. Detail oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Competencies: Effective Communication, Time Management, Leadership, Commercial Awareness, Ethical Decision-Making, Site management, Customer Focus, problem-solving skills, Results-Driven Mindset, Adaptability.
  • Knowledge: Financial Acumen, Computer Proficiency, UAE Local Regulations, NFPA standards, MEP building systems and Industry Best Practices.
  • Skilled in MS Office, ACAD, MS Project/ Primavera and project documentation tools such as shop drawings, redlines, RFI's, method statements, risk assessment, etc.
PREFFERED
  • Hands-on experience in MEP fitout, knowledge of estimation, exposure to latest building materials, building systems and energy efficiency trends.
  • Valid UAE driving license is an advantage.
  • Previous experience working in GCC region.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
