- Serves as lead engineer on mid- to large size projects.
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Approves and signs off on work.
- Expertise in fire and life safety design and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of the Architectural FLS review.
- Participates in development of technical proposals.
- Develop strategic partnerships and drive business success.
- Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.
The responsibilities of the Principal Fire Life Safety Engineer include the following:
- Manage building projects (with respect to fire life and safety) from concept design through to completion and handover.
- The application of codes and standards to FLS and loss prevention.
- Carry our risk assessments with respect to fire safety, fire egress points and travel distances and work collaboratively to mitigate such risks.
- Review the Architectural drawings in terms of FLS requirements.
- Collaborate with architects, consultants, and project teams.
- Knowledge of CFD smoke modelling particularly in underground buildings.
- Develop performance-based fire engineering strategies.
- Ideally, the candidate would have not less than 15 years' experience in a fire life and safety
- Engineering role covering buildings, tunnels, and master planning fire life safety.
- Proven track record in Fire Protection Systems strategy and design.
- Knowledge and understanding of smoke modelling, and fire evacuation strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Engineering (or equivalent).
- Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) from NFPA.
- Certified Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE) from NFPA.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of various fire standards and codes including: NFPA Codes such as and not limited to NFPA 1, NFPA 101, NFPA 5000, NFPA 12, 13, NFPA 70& NFPA 72.
- UAE Fire Life Safety Code of Practice.
- Saudi Building Code-General - SBC 201.
- Saudi Building Code for Fire Protection - SBC 801.
