- Proficiently operate and calibrate various microscopy and confocal imaging systems.
- Ensure proper functioning of equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise during operation.
- Implement imaging parameters to achieve optimal results for diverse biological or materials samples.
- Collaborate with researchers to assist in sample preparation for imaging experiments.
- Ensure proper handling and mounting of samples onto microscope slides or imaging chambers.
- Implement staining and labeling techniques as necessary for enhanced visualization.
- Capture high-quality images using microscopy and confocal systems.
- Perform image analysis using relevant software tools to extract quantitative data.
- Collaborate with researchers to interpret and present imaging results effectively.
- Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, maintenance, and any issues encountered.
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of imaging data.
- Provide training to researchers and other staff on the proper use of microscopy and confocal equipment.
- Offer technical support and guidance to users, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Foster a collaborative environment by liaising with researchers, principal investigators, and interdisciplinary teams to understand imaging needs and provide solutions.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, promoting the facility's capabilities and services.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance programs for imaging data, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.
- Monitor compliance with safety protocols and contribute to the development of facility policies.
- Oversee data storage, management, and security protocols for imaging datasets.
- Collaborate with researchers on data analysis and interpretation, as needed.
- Technical proficiency in imaging equipment operation and troubleshooting.
- Provide scientific, technical and logistical support to Research laboratory users.
- Develop, design and conduct research lab experiments in line with the overall research plan, review progress and evaluate results with supervision from the Principal Investigator.
- Formulate research methods and suggest options for improving quality, identify potential problems, and recommend solutions.
- Assist in the selection, safe operation and maintenance of equipment used in the laboratories.
- Conduct a cost and risk analysis on the design and the equipment to be selected to ensure proper and efficient selection.
- Work effectively as part of a laboratory team, including assisting colleagues in skill development as needed.
- Maintain databases and experimental records.
- Assist with maintenance of equipment and train others on use of equipment.
- Assist with laboratory safety and ordering.
- Ensure that all aspects of day to day operations comply with HSE policies and procedures and take corrective action in cases on non-compliance.
- Conduct analysis of data, and interpret and implement research methodology (with supervision from the Principal Investigators).
- Act as liaison with other departments, divisions or organizations.
- Monitor an inventory and database of all equipment and supplies and ensure the accuracy of entries and records.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Imaging Sciences, biology, biochemistry, chemistry) or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience managing imaging facilities, preferably in a research or academic setting.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting various imaging modalities.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations, ethical considerations, and compliance standards related to imaging research.
- Proven experience operating microscopy and confocal imaging systems.
- Proficiency in image analysis software and data interpretation.
- Expats: 5 years of hands-on experience in imaging facilities techniques.
- UAE Nationals: 1 year of hands-on experience in imaging facilities techniques.
