As the Head of Logistics, you'll own the end-to-end logistics strategy from sourcing OEM parts in China through shipping to Africa, to managing distribution across varied markets. You'll ensure supply chain reliability, cost-efficiency, operational agility, and compliance all key to supporting impact-driven expansion.Key Responsibilities
Lead logistics planning for importing parts from China to fulfillment hubs in Africa.
Manage freight, negotiated rates, and vendor performance across sea, air, and multimodal transport.
Navigate customs compliance and optimize shipping timelines.
Develop a centralized logistics hub in Dubai servicing multiple African markets.
Orchestrate inbound consolidation and regional distribution to assembly units and swap locations.
Collaborate with local teams to synchronize supply with demand across countries like Kenya, Uganda, and Nigeria.
Drive cost reductions via volume agreements, consolidation, and strategic sourcing.
Monitor metrics such as landed cost, lead times, and fill rates, implementing continuous improvements.
Align with procurement, operations, finance, and country leadership to balance inventory and demand.
Ensure compliance with international import rules and sustainability protocols.
Promote eco-friendly logistics, including optimized packaging and greener transport solutions.
Build partnerships with freight forwarders, customs agents, carriers, and regulatory bodies.
Travel periodically to African locations to monitor logistics operations, conduct audits, and mentor local teams.
Candidate Profile
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field; MBA or Masters preferred.
12+ years of experience in international supply chain management, especially involving Africa.
Proven record managing cost centers or P&L, with effective vendor negotiation skills.
Strong commercial mindset adept at cost-efficiency and strategic sourcing.
Exceptional planning, organizational, and analytical capabilities.
Comfort with fast-paced, agile environments and cross-cultural management.
