- Design and implement robust data pipelines to extract, transform, and load data into Vertica using ETL tools such as SAP BODS and Informatica.
- Migrate data from Oracle, SQL Server, and SQLite to Vertica within defined project timelines.
- Develop and maintain data models and database structures optimized for analytics and high-performance queries.
- Write functions and procedures to prepare business-driven datasets.
- Support data scientists and analysts with scalable data solutions for reporting and analytics.
- Implement data quality checks and ensure validation processes are in place.
- Leverage VerticaPy for machine learning use cases in data science.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams for deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of Vertica environments.
- Conduct performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning to optimize query execution.
- Troubleshoot database performance issues and ensure system health monitoring.
- Define and enforce best practices in data governance and Vertica usage.
- Prepare documentation, data flows, and technical specifications.
- Train end-users to effectively navigate Power BI reports and insights.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer with hands-on expertise in Vertica database systems.
- Strong SQL skills, data modeling, and schema design experience.
- Proficiency in ETL processes and tools with direct experience integrating data into Vertica.
- Experience migrating data from Oracle and SQL Server to Vertica.
- Knowledge of big data tools (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and best practices.
- Experience with Vertica performance tuning and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with Linux environments and shell scripting.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle large datasets efficiently.
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
