Job DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled researcher for a project on standardizing aquaponics production of rice and wheat using tilapia fish in a commercial level aquaponics system adapted to the UAE climate. The selected applicant will work as a Research Assistant at the Department of Integrative Agriculture, CAVM, UAE University. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in aquaponics and hydroponics, crop science, and environmental management, with a focus on optimizing production in arid regions. Responsibilities include designing and implementing experiments, analyzing data and reporting/presenting, developing standardized protocols, and collaborating with local stakeholders to ensure the system's commercial viability. Strong problem-solving skills, familiarity with sustainable agriculture practices, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team are essential for this position.Minimum QualificationUndergraduate degree in horticulture, plant science or a related field. Master degree is considered added advantage. The candidate should have experience in integrated crop production and should be well-versed in the establishment and cultivation processes for aquaponic and hydroponics. She or he must have previous training or knowledge in the analyses of basic water quality parameters and water management techniques, biochemical and nutritional assessments of fish and plants. She or he needs to be extremely motivated, self-driven, and able to work well with others.Preferred Qualification
