
Sr. Engineer, Operations Support (Olefins)

- Function as lead process engineer / project manager for projects and lead a team of Process Development
- Engineers & Senior Process Development Engineers.
- Conduct quality feasibility studies within a reasonable time, accepted by line management.
- Coordinate with relevant engineering disciplines, collect data for new projects, audits, and surveys.
- Participate in reviewing projects definition and new facilities description.
- Provide quality input submission within agreed deadlines, complete Feasibility studies and provide
- documentation for investment approvals.
- Provide detailed process engineering input during all design phases, participate in basic and detailed
- design for modifications of plants and review any process design work conducted by third parties
- (vendors).
- Participate in HAZOP studies for modifications and follow up on implementation of approved modification
- work.
- Initiate and review test run requirements for different business units and assess the impact on existing
- assets. Contribute to operational goals by planning and realizing agreed development activities.
- Demonstrate value of test runs on project. Plan test runs with minimum disturbance to plant operations.
- Coordinate and participate in testing, validation, and commissioning of new or modified olefins equipment
- and processes.
- Participate or lead in identifying workable solutions in long-term process problem areas; including
- analyzing operating reports and discussing problem items with departments concerned.
- Lead Benchmarking studies, analyze results to take actions to improve Borouge position and profitability.
- Prepare/update operational data for Benchmarking input, Projects, TEM, cost analysis to assure correct
- outcome from these exercises.
- Identify weaknesses and propose solutions to improve Borouge’s competitive position in terms of
- profitability, energy efficiency and HSE.
- Monitor and analyze performance of processes, equipment, and systems, identify, and resolve any issues
- or problems that may arise.
- Monitor and analyze Olefins production data and trends, identify any opportunities for improvement or
- optimization.
- Research and evaluate modern technologies and methods to improve processes, equipment, and
- systems, recommend and implement changes as needed.
- Research and evaluate modern technologies and methods for enhancing olefins production efficiency,
- quality, and sustainability.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and protocols to verify and validate functionality and reliability
- of processes, equipment, and systems.
- Provide technical support and training to production and engineering staff, collaborate with them to
- optimize processes, equipment, and systems.
- Provide technical advice and recommendations to Olefins production staff on how to operate, maintain,
- and troubleshoot Olefins’ equipment and systems.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other engineers, technicians, operators, managers, and
- external stakeholders involved in Olefins operations.
- Prepare and maintain documentation and records of processes, equipment, and systems, such as
- manuals, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Ensure processes, equipment, and systems comply with safety, environmental, and quality regulations
- and standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of Olefins facilities and equipment, ensure compliance with safety,
- quality, and environmental standards and regulations.
- Prepare and update technical documentation and reports related to olefins operations, such as standard
- operating procedures, manuals, specifications, and performance indicators.
- Keep abreast and knowledgeable on the updates for Health, Safety, Environment, Crisis Management,
- and Risk Registers for all the performed processes, projects, and activities within the operating zone.
- Promote, communicate, and lead by example all the safety-related communications, updates, standards,
- and any related topics with co-workers and within any interface.
- Contribute to provide timely feedback and recommendations to leverage a risk-free environment to ensure
- the ultimate goals of safe workplace.
- University degree in Chemical Engineering or Science, or any related discipline
- Fluency in English Language; written and oral
- Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
- Minimum of 6 - 8 years’ experience in oil & gas or petrochemical or polymer industry.
- Specific experience in Olefins or Polyolefin technologies for a minimum period of 3 years
- Proven capability and ability to promote teamwork and forge a productive operating climate with a multi[1]cultural, multinational workforce.
- Strong knowledge of the principles and practices of engineering, process control, and automation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, and an ability to work under pressure and
- meet deadlines.
- Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, and an ability to work with different levels of staff
- and stakeholders.
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and quality.
- Willingness to learn new skills and technologies, and to adapt to changing requirements and environments.
- Preferred to be certified in Project Management; i.e. PMP, etc.
